About Lysistrata Lah! (nee The Lysistrata Project Singapore)

In Singapore, an unprecedented arts event is brewing. From every corner of our local arts and entertainment scene, artists from all fields are coming together to present Greek comic master Aristophanes' 411 B.C.E. hit comedy Lysistrata to Singapore for the first time. Never before have so many of our local theatre practitioners collaborated for charity, combining their arts to express a timeless reminder to humanity - that peace is paramount.

Lysistrata Lah! is a unique charity event featuring a wildly comical, highly spontaneous semi-dramatised reading of Lysistrata. Admission is free of charge, but seating is limited and on a first-come-first-served basis, so get there early! There will be four different readings at two different venues - the Young Musicians' Society auditorium and Singapore Tyler Print Institute. After the performance, the audience is welcome to make donations towards our selected charity - Mercy Relief (http://www.mercyrelief.org). Mercy Relief is a humanitarian and financial assistance project initiated by members of Perdaus in aid of orphans, the needy, and victims of wars and natural disasters, particularly within the Asian continent.

About the Lysistrata Project

On Monday, the 3rd of March, the first-ever world wide theatrical event for peace and humanity took place. The Lysistrata Project brought theatre artists together in cities all over the world for a communal expression of concern for our globe on the brink of war. Actors, directors, writers, designers and arts administrators in each of the 59 countries involved gathered to mount 1029 pure or semi-dramatised readings of Aristophanes's 411 B.C.E. hit comedy Lysistrata.

The Lysistrata Project is an opportunity for theatre artists the world over to unite in a bid for peace, and dedicate their united voice to the cause of humanity.
