What's Lysistrata (the play) about?

In this riotous Greek comedy, the women of Athens and its neighbouring cities, frustrated by their husbands being away at war and scheming to keep them home, decide to put an end to the Peloponnesian War by abstaining from sex with their husbands until a peace treaty is signed. A hilarious battle of the sexes, full of erections, steamy wit and raunchy rhyme, Lysistrata is one of the most popular comedies from the Greek tradition.

It was a biting social relevance in ancient Athens, and it is no less poignant today.
